THE REPORT

OTHER STUDIES

BACKGROUND

Where to begin? There's so much to talk about.

Let's start from the beginning. At end of the 20th century, David Rust, a furry and history student, took it upon himself to create a statistical survey of the furry community. "Furry" is a term that describes the fandom and culture surrounding people who have an interest in animals and anthropomorphism. I'll assume that you have a basic grasp of what furry is about, but if you're new to the concept, I suggest reading more about furries on WikiFur.

Rust's study was incredibly interesting and so in November 2006 I began work on my own study that modelled itself on Rust's format. This website documents the results of that project. Conducted online, this study surveyed 276 members of the furry community. The results are intruiging and you can read the full report here.

This project took nearly two years from start to finish, published at long last on October 23rd, 2008. So I must thank everyone for their patience and their input. I should also thank the furry community as a whole for being - by and large - a fun place to be. (Many more thanks can be found here.)

Cheers,
Kyle
